About Apex

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE THROUGH ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) CURRICULUM
The Leacock C.I. APEX program wants students who recognize the importance of hard work and commitment to their academic studies. In Grade 9 and 10, APEX students will be challenged by enriched curriculum in Math, Science, English, Geography, and History. Starting in Grade 11 and 12, APEX students will be enrolled in a series of AP (Advanced Placement) Courses, which are internationally recognized courses with standardized international exams.
A talented and committed staff of teachers will prepare APEX students for the academic challenges of post-secondary education while earning Ontario University level credits. AP courses are recognized and held in high esteem by both Canadian and international universities.

School and Community Involvement Through Local and Global Action.
APEX requires that students learn skills of community involvement and activism by engaging in yearly development projects at the school, in the local community, and at the global level.

Each year, the APEX students will plan and execute team projects to improve Leacock CI, its community, and in Grade 11, a global region in need of social development. APEX students will be expected to surpass the Ministry of Education's requirement of 40 community volunteer hours. APEX demands that students complete an additional 60 hours of school and community based involvement hours to receive the full APEX diploma. APEX students will graduate to post-secondary education knowing that inspiration and development begins with action and organization.
